University was a hugely daunting thought for me prior to enrolling, coming from a tiny village surrounded by sheep and where everybody knows everyone. GCU welcomed me with it’s giant educational arms and I’ve never looked back. The university has such a diverse range of students, as regardless of age, race or gender anyone keen to learn can get involved. There are a huge array of fantastic societies on campus, such as the Harry Potter society, meaning people with similar interests can meet and make friends. There’s plenty to keep yourself active too, with an onsite gym, tennis court and sports clubs to banish that hangover and keep in shape. The university also has fantastic opportunities for those interested in media, with our very own radio station, Radio Caley. This, coupled with the award-winning university magazine The Edit, are open to anyone to join and are a great creative output. Seeing your own articles printed and being read on campus is a real buzz and makes the hard work worth it!
The newly renovated campus houses the lively and upbeat atmosphere of the students which creates a friendly and welcoming place to study. Located right in the centre of Glasgow, there’s always something going on nearby whether that be places to eat, a night out or the infamous Christmas markets. Of course, studying comes first, right?…
As a journalism student, I love to write and use social media. A personal goal for 2017 is to get back into blogging as I used to love doing this as a hobby. PR and marketing is an avenue I’d love to go down once graduating, so being a digital ambassador for such a huge brand would be an incredible opportunity. Soap & Glory is a brand I have personally used for years, and their passion for making woman feel empowered and beautiful through their fun advertising campaigns is something which makes them stand out from the beauty crowd. Their bold and bright dynamic would fit right in at GCU.
University is what you make it, and with all the fantastic opportunities (and lifelong friendships) GCU has to offer, it certainly is a kick-ass place to study. GCU makes everyone feel like their goals are achievable and gives them a positive place to kickstart them.Only you can make your dreams a reality, and by becoming a digital ambassador for Soap & Glory, I’d be fulfilling one of my own.
